Beth Cimini
Senior Group Leader, Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard
Beth Cimini leads the Cimini Lab within the Imaging Platform of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Her team works with biologists to help them create image analysis workflows and makes the open-source image analysis software CellProfiler. Heng Li
Associate Professor, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School
Heng Li studies advanced computational algorithms to solve practical biological problems, currently with a focus on sequence alignment, variant calling, de novo assembly, data storage, and information query. He developed and maintains several widely used software packages, such as BWA, samtools, minimap2, and seqtk, for analyzing high-throughput sequencing data. Nancy Zhang
Professor of Statistics and Data Science, University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Zhang is Professor of Statistics and Data Science in The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. Her current research focuses primarily on the development of statistical and computational approaches for the analysis of genetic, genomic, and transcriptomic data. In the field of Genomics, she has developed methods to improve the accuracy of copy number variant and structural variant detection, methods for improved FDR control, and methods for analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing data. In the field of Statistics, she has developed new models and methods for change-point analysis, variable selection, and model selection. Jeffrey Moffitt
Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Jeffrey Moffitt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at Harvard Medical School and the Program in Cellular Molecular Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. His research focuses on the development of spatially resolved transcriptomic tools and their application to questions at the microbe-host interface in mammals. Jeff co-developed multiplexed-error robust fluorescence in situ hybridization (MERFISH), a transcriptome-scale single-RNA-molecule imaging technique capable of imaging and identifying thousands of RNA molecules within single cells in intact tissue samples. He demonstrated that this new measurement capability can define gene regulatory networks, map the intracellular organization of the transcriptome, and define and map cell types within tissues such as the brain. Jeff continues to develop new extensions of MERFISH and to apply these techniques to understand the spatial organization of commensal microbial communities, the role this organization plays on microbe-microbe and microbe-host interactions, and the role of the cellular organization of host tissues in the response to microbial perturbations. Samantha Lent
Senior Computational Biologist at Freenome
Sam Lent is a computational biologist currently working in liquid biopsy assay development. She received her PhD in Biostatistics from Boston University and is a former fellow of the University of Chicago MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics.
